To the Wet Woods

The frog croaks,
The cloud heaves.
The rain trickles down
The wet coconut leaves.

The jungle plays a tune,
The cricket sings along.
The firefly flies by with
A disturbed luminescence - barely strong.

Falling water, rustling trees,
An occasional thunderous lightning,
A scared toad and concerned insects -
Quite a natural thing.

The bubbly soil exudes a mesmerizing aroma,
The plantain leaves beam with sheen.
Rain in the woods - a harbinger of life
And all things - clean and green.

Thanks Paul...I used to think blogging was tacky and impersonal. Clearly, it isn't. Good work on your blog...we can keep encouraging each other.

short n sweet poem..rains are always inspiring, whether be it the soothing drizzle or the ferocious downpour

Thanks "Flyaway mind" (Roshni?) for stopping by. Rain sure is inspiring. One can get involved with a monologue in the woods. The monologue is evident at so many levels. So many layers. You could casually hear the pitter-patter. A little more concentration and you could hear the running streams of muddy water. A little more involvement and you could hear disturbed cicadas. A little more curiosity and you could hear the seeping water and the replenished roots. A little more interest and you could smell the olfactory mud, and hear the synchronous symphony of the jungle. Rain involves one at all levels. Makes one aware. Makes one's adrenaline rush!
PS: I could give you Ruskin Bond's phone number...

Rain trickling down coconut leaves, plantain leaves beaming with sheen. Sounds and feels much like where I grew up. (I loved to watch coconut trees bending, swaying to the frequent storm winds. I still do. ^_^)

A beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing it. And I also enjoyed reading your reply (to Flyaway Mind) above. Cheers.

Cheers Soulless...

Did visit your blog and left a comment behind. Will sure be back...hey, Andrea Bocelli and Enya...I love their songs too! Say, for soulless, your taste of music (and your blog) is pretty soulful?

I'm going to join the chorus here. Lots of nice things said about this poem. I agree! this was delightful!

Hi Russell, the chorus is music to my ears. Thanks for the notes and the harmony. Play on...cheers!

So good to see a kindred spirit, as regards music. ^_^ I love songs that make my being soar. (As regards the name "Soulless," it is merely a reminder -- or even remainder -- of a "state" long past. And, I hope, long gone. ^_^ Cheers.)

Fill your glass to the brink,
Offer cheers to life with a merry tink,
Hear the harmony of waves of the seas,
And drink the music to the lees.

Cheers Soulless (soulless no more).
